What user roles are available in the CUSP site?

There are three user roles within the CUSP Sharing Site: the community member, the institutional representative, and the CUSP administrator. Functionality associated with each role is outlined below.

Community Member

The Community Member is the most common role in the system, and has read-only access. Community Members can:

  • Request a user account to access the database of standard procedures.

  • Search the database to find and read procedures that are potentially of interest to them and their home institution.

  • Bookmark or save “favorite” procedures that are of interest to them and their home institution.

  • Select procedures of interest and export the related data from the system so that they can use this information at their home institution. Data can be exported from the system using low-tech (e.g., CSV, PDF) or high-tech (e.g., JSON) options.

  • Flag procedures that need to be updated or reviewed.

  • Review and edit their user profile.

Institutional Representative

The Institutional Representative has read and write access in the system. Each institution is required to have at least one individual with this role. Designated Institutional Representatives can do all the above Community Members activities, plus:

  • Approve or deny new user account requests from individuals from their home institutions.
  • Create new user accounts for individuals from their home institution.
  • Create new procedures in the site on behalf of their home institution.
  • Manage procedures their institution has added to the site through editing, archiving and renewing capabilities.
  • Endorse procedures that other institutions have added to the site (indicating your institution also uses these procedures as described) and remove added endorsements.
  • Query the system through the use of reports.

CUSP Administrator

The CUSP Administrator has full access in the system and can perform all of the above activities on behalf of any participating institution, in addition to administrative functions, such as maintaining the list of institutions or species. This role will be limited to members of the CUSP Steering Committee and FDP Technical Team.
